El gran cucharón o la Osa mayor, es una constelación del hemisferio norte. Es distintiva en latitudes muy altas, pues circunda a la estrella polar durante todo el año. Es un asterismo muy facilmente identificable. Sus estrellas Dubhe y Merak apuntan casi directamente a la estrella polar, por lo que con ellas es facilmente identificable.
The Big Dipper or Ursa Major is a constellation in the northern hemisphere. It is distinctive in very high latitudes, as surrounds the polar star throughout the year. It is a very easily identifiable asterism. Its stars Dubhe and Merak point almost directly at Polaris, so it is easily identifiable with them.
