Mejor conocidas como las Pléyades o M45, este cúmulo abierto de estrellas jóvenes se encuentra en la constelación de Tauro y pueden ser observadas a simple vista, por lo que ocuparon un lugar predominante en las mitologías griega y romana. Se cree que se formaron hace unos 100 millones de años, al colapsar una nube de gas interestelar, y se encuentran a unos 450 años luz de distancia. Sus estrellas más grandes, son una cinco veces el tamaño de nuestro Sol.
Best known as the Pleiades or M45, the open cluster of young stars in the constellation Taurus and can be seen with the naked eye, so that occupied a prominent place in the Greek and Roman mythology. It is thought to have formed about 100 million years, by collapsing cloud of interstellar gas and are about 450 light years away. Their biggest stars, are five times the size of our sun.
